ReSerW (Ressourceneffiziente Selbstoptimierende Wäscherei)

The project "Resource-efficient self-optimizing Laundry" is part of the Leading-Edge Cluster "Intelligent Technical Systems OstWestfalenLippe" (it's OWL). The main goal of the project is to significantly improve the resource efficiency of industrial laundries.

To reach this goal the interaction of the machines involved in the process has to be optimized by means of intelligent information processing and optimization strategies.
In addition, new automation solutions are developed like an intelligent robot system being able to autonomously process a pile of laundry. 
The Applied Informatics Group is responsible for the image processing work package within the project. The work focuses on developing computer vision methods and algorithms that are ready to use for several tasks in an industrial laundry, including algorithms for robot grasp point detection, clothes classification and quality inspection.
